On Friday, 4 March 2022, the Minister for the Interior of Latvia, Dr Marija GOLUBEVA, gave a lecture at the College of Europe on
“The EU’s External Policy under Stress: The Test of Geopolitics”
Minister GOLUBEVA was welcomed by Rector Federica MOGHERINI. Her lecture addressed the external dimension of Justice and Home Affairs, in particular the European Union’s migration and asylum policy and the EU-Belarus border crisis but also the challenges of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The lecture was followed by a lively Q&A session with the students.
About the speaker
Dr Marija GOLUBEVA is Minister for the Interior since June 2021. She was a Member of Saeima since 2018 and leader of the Development/For! Saeima fraction as a founding member of the liberal political party Movement For!. In her previous career she worked as consultant and researcher. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Cambridge, an MA in History from the Central European University in Budapest, and a BA in Philology from the University of Latvia.
