The students of the Business Club were welcomed in Business Europe’s headquarter by Mr Pedro OLIVEIRA, Senior adviser in the legal affairs department. We began our discussion with a presentation by Mr OLIVEIRA about Business Europe’s members, organization, mission and lobbying activities. Presentation was followed by a Q&A session during which we gained invaluable insights regarding the functioning of Business Europe.
6 March 2017 - Study Visit to the European Commission
The students were welcomed by Mr Marc CORNER, Member of the Directorate-General for Communication, with a one-hour discussion about the EU Commission’s functioning and its influence on the European business atmosphere.
This discussion was followed by a presentation by Mr Eike KLAPPER, Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs. They discussed the EU's single market and its main aspects. Mr KLAPPER explained how current EU regulations respond to the challenges faced by SMEs, Startups and other private undertakings.
Lastly, Mr Stan MAES , Directorate-General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union, explained EU's answer to the financial crisis. The students had a chance to see the causes and consequences of the Euro Zone crisis as well as the reactions of policy makers.
