DACHLI National Week 2018

The DACHLI National Week took place from 22 to 28 January 2018. The students from Germany (D), Austria (A), Switzerland (CH) and Liechtenstein (LI), worked together to set up a divers program reflecting their different cultures. They enjoyed this opportunity to give an insight into our politics, culture and particularities to the entire Simone Veil promotion.

On Monday, the week started with a gastronomic experience: the DACHLI Apero, including a tasting of German and Austrian wines. In the same spirit, on Tuesday, the students were invited to enjoy an Alpine lunch at the canteen of the College. Reflecting their common traditions, the menu was composed of "Schnitzel", "Fritattensuppe" and "Kaiserschmarrn".

On the same day the students had the pleasure to welcome H.E. Mr Heiko THOMS, Deputy Permanent Representative of Germany at the NATO, who answered several questions about notably the EU-NATO cooperation. The next highlight of the week was the transformation of the student’s bar into a famous Berlin techno club, renamed “Brüghain” for the occasion. Friday was then the return to gastronomic discovery with the tasting of cake specialities in the Phoenix Café.

The DACHLI week finished on a high note with its long-expected traditional Viennese Ball. Not only did the students dress up for this special occasion but they also demonstrated their waltz skills that they acquired over the week in dance classes taught by Austrian students. Finally, on a more quiet note, the national week ended after the screening of the movie Toni Erdmann on Sunday night.

Overall, the DACHLI national week was seen as a great success amongst students from all over Europe. The organisational team thanks all participants and supporters for the realization of this unforgettable week and the resulting wonderful memories.
