Italian Society sets up art exhibition and organises high-level conference with Mario MONTI

From Monday 12 April to Sunday 18 April, The Italian Society of College of Europe Bruges campus organised its Italian National Week. Highlights of this extraordinary week, putting in the spotlight the Italian culture and traditions, were an art exhibition in the Karel Verleye Student residence and a high-level conference with Senator and former Italian Prime Minister Mario MONTIArt Exhibition (12-18 April) In order to bring culture into the spaces students live in on a daily basis, the Italian students concluded a partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) of Brussels. The jointly organised art exhibit in the Karel Verleye student residence in the Katelijnestraat included important artworks from the permanent collection of the IIC. On Monday 12 April, the exhibition was officially inaugurated with an online opening ceremony in the presence of Rector Federica MOGHERINI, Director of the Instituto Italiano di Cultura Paolo SABBATINI and the Italian Ambassador to Belgium Francesco GENUARDI.

High-level Conference (15 April) On Thursday 15 April,  the Italian Society and Rector Federica MOGHERINI welcomed Senator MARIO MONTI, former Italian Prime Minister, and European Commissioner for the Internal Market (1995-1999) and for Competition (1999-2004), for a virtual discussion on "Europe: Yesterday, today and tomorrow". The students and alumni of the College had the unique opportunity to ask questions to the distinguished guest speaker. "Given the great competence and experience of Mr Mario MONTI,  the students had the opportunity to have a thrilling discussion on Europe in the wide perspective "yesterday, today and tomorrow”. We truly thank our speaker for having been with us and for his inspiring words.
