Study visit on EU's Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood to the European Committee of the Regions and the European Endowment for Democracy

On 21 November 2017,  nine College of Europe students went on a study visit on EU's Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood to the European Committee of the Regions and the European Endowment for Democracy. They have met with the Support Group for Ukraine, European Commission. 

The programme looked as follow:

12:00 – 13:00 - Welcome. Presentation about the European Committee of the Regions  Klaus HULLMANN, Directorate of Communication.

13:00 – 14:00 -  Commission for Citizenship, Governance, Institutional and External Affairs (CIVEX), European Committee of the Regions Neighbourhood East:  Milica NEACSU, Administrator — Overview of CIVEX's work; Daria GONTSAROVA, Administrator — Presentation on the Conference of Regional and Local Authorities for the Eastern Partnership and Ukraine Task Force; Neighbourhood South: Victor TILEA, Administrator — Presentation on Euro-Mediterranean Regional and Local Assembly.

14:00 – 15:00 - Presentation of Support Group for Ukraine, European Commission, Peter WAGNER, Head of Support Group for Ukraine.

15:30 – 17:00 - European Endowment for Democracy (EED) Peter SONDERGAARD, Director of Programmes — Presentation of EED; Neighbourhood East: Timur ONICA, Programme Officer — Overview of the situation and EED's projects in Moldova and Belarus; Svitlana KOBZAR, Programme Officer — EED projects in Ukraine and Georgia; Neighbourhood South: Samy LENDVAI-KARMOUT, Programme Officer — Overview of the situation and EED's projects in Egypt, Jordan and Morocco.
