On 31 January 2018, in the framework of the Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA), the College of Europe organized a seminar at the United States Mission to the European Union in Brussels.

Following a welcome address by Ms Christina TOMLINSON, Minister Counselor for Public Affairs at the Mission, the group of thirteen students, accompanied by MATA Academic Assistant Brice DIDIER, participated in two consecutive round-tables: a first one on the U.S. Commercial Services and the U.S.-EU Trade Relations with Mr John D. BREIDENSTINE, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs and Senior Commercial Officer for Europe; and a second one on U.S. Foreign Policy issues with Mr Henry HAGGARD, Acting Head of the Political Section. These discussions led students to think beyond the current state of transatlantic affairs towards future prospects of U.S.-EU relations.

The seminar concluded with a lunch debate on U.S. Public Diplomacy with Ms TOMLINSON.

The College of Europe would like to thank the U.S. Mission for their warm welcome.
