The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the College of Europe were pleased to organize the 22nd Bruges Colloquium on International Humanitarian Law. This year’s edition was held in a hybrid format, in Bruges and online, on 21 and 22 October 2021*.

This year, leading academics, practitioners and international experts examined the enduring relevance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the update of the ICRC Commentaries.

This included discussions on the relevance of the Commentaries in practice, challenges in interpreting Common Articles, the protection of prisoners of today's war, as well as complementarity and interplay between IHL and International Human Rights Law in the Fourth Geneva Convention

This year more than ever, the Colloquium was yours!

During the last panel, experts  addressed topics submitted by the audience regarding the update of the Commentary on the Fourth Geneva Convention.
