The Opening Ceremony of the seventy-fourth academic year of the College of Europe – Bruges Campus, will take place in the Concert Hall (‘t Zand, Bruges) on Tuesday, 3 October 2023 at 15.00.
The keynote speaker will be Mr Petr PAVEL, President of the Czech Republic. As general of the Czech army, he previously served as Chairman of the NATO Military Committee from 2015 to 2018, and as the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces from 2012 to 2015.
Ms Julianne SMITH, the U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO, will recall Madeleine Albright, Patronne of the Promotion 2023-2024. Prior to her current position, Ambassador Smith served as a Senior Advisor to Secretary Blinken at the U.S. Department of State.
Mr Herman VAN ROMPUY, President of the Administrative Council of the College of Europe, Vice-Rector Ewa OSNIECKA-TAMECKA, Rector Federica MOGHERINI, and students’ representatives will also intervene during the ceremony.
