Panel event - The Transatlantic Partnership in an election year. Structural and Situational Challenges
On Tuesday, 17 September, the Master of Arts in Transatlantic Affairs (MATA) programme and the Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy organised a panel event entitled ‘The Transatlantic Partnership in an election year - Structural and Situational Challenges.’ The audience was greeted with welcome words from Rector Federica Mogherini and Prof. Michele Chang who acted as moderator, followed by remarks from Dr. Benedetta Berti, Prof. Joel Trachtman, and Dr. Ian Lesser.
The discussion was enriched by the dynamic participation of the audience, who raised critical points of reflection – from the strategic importance of the Transatlantic partnership, the potential impacts of US and EU elections, the issue of economic nationalism, the question of increasing defence capabilities, the need for regulatory integration and for European engagement with the US.
The MATA programme and the Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy would like to thank Rector Mogherini, Dr. Berti, Prof. Trachtman, Dr. Lesser, and Prof. Chang for their insights, as well as all staff members and, most importantly, attendees who made this event a success.
