The College of Europe acknowledges the resignation of Ms Federica Mogherini as Rector of the College of Europe. 

On 5 December 2025, the Executive Committee of the College assumed the institutional responsibilities of the Rector and entrusted the operational management of the College to the Treasurer, Mr Bertil van Outryve d'Ydewalle, until the Administrative Council - the College’s highest decision-making body - appoints an Acting Rector. 

The new Rector will subsequently be appointed in line with the statutory procedures.

The governing bodies of the College, its administration and academic departments ensure full continuity of the institution's activities in all domains. The campus and academic life, as well as all our other projects, are running as usual during this transition period.

The College of Europe continues to fully cooperate with the authorities in the interest of transparency and respect for the investigative process.
