On Monday 2 October 2023, various EU networks (Europe Direct West-Vlaanderen, EURES VDAB, Enterprise Europe Network, Building Europe with Local Councillors Network, European Documentation Centre) and KU Leuven Kulak organised the event ‘SOTEU2023, kritisch bekeken – a critical view' in Auditorium Jean-Luc Dehaene.
After the welcome address by Rector Federica Mogherini, the moderator Professor Steven Van Hecke summarized the State of the Union address 2023.
In the subsequent panel discussion, the panelists shed light on what they had noticed in the SOTEU from the perspective of their own expertise and on what they believed to be the priorities of EU policy.
In the Q&A session with the audience, EU financing of SMEs, the enlargement of the EU, migration and critical raw materials were some of the topics covered.
