On Wednesday 13 September 2023 at 9:00, Mrs. Ursula von der LEYEN, President of the European Commission, delivered her fourth State of the Union address.
The same evening at 19:45, a debate was organised by the Bruges Library and European Documentation Centre with Rector Federica MOGHERINI and Professor Olivier COSTA. They commented this year’s State of the Union from an academic and political perspective.
About 260 students and participants of the European Diplomatic Academy Programme of the Madeleine Albright Promotion participated and were given the opportunity to provide their views and comments on the SOTEU 2023. EU enlargement, revision of the EU treaties, European elections and EU relations with Africa, China and the US were some of the topics discussed.
