Welfare Buddies

Formerly known as “Welfare Champions”, our name has changed but our mission has not!

We are a peer-support project by College students for College students. Our goal is to offer a low-threshold and easy access to mental support for students in need. We want to create safe spaces, where you can address whatever is bothering you in complete confidentiality.

What can I talk about?

Whatever you like. As the exams are approaching, you may find yourself at unease and want to talk about your anxieties. Or you had a conflict with a fellow student. Or you just want to vent about the canteen food or another stupid thing about the College administration. Whatever burdens you, the Welfare Buddies will be there for you.

How can I get in touch?

You can get in touch in several ways:

  • Write an email only the student reps responsible for mental health, have access, so you can be sure that only the two of them will be able to see your message. Also, all messages of this mailbox will be deleted by the end of the academic year.
  • Send a message via WhatsApp
  • Approach a Welfare Buddy personally. You can recognize us by the orange visuals (e.g. wristbands) we are wearing. Since also Welfare Buddies can have a bad day, please only approach us if we are really wearing an orange visual on that day. This will be our personal sign for you that we are available to talk.

What is planned next?

We will not only be approachable for you, but we will also organize events to boost your mood and your mental health. Stay tuned for more news in the coming weeks!

Wishing you all the best,

Your Welfare Buddies
