Anna Michalski (SE) is Associate Professor in Political Science at the Department of Government, Uppsala University and Associated Senior Researcher at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs. She is Chair for the Swedish Network for European Studies in Political Science (SNES) and member of the Swedish Foreign Policy Society.

Her research focuses on European foreign policy, EU-China relations, socialization in international organizations, and foreign policy roles of the Nordic countries. She has held academic positions at Fudan University, Shanghai, the School of Modern Languages and Culture, Hong Kong University, and Auckland University, New Zealand, as well as at several European policy research institutes in London, Paris, The Hague and Stockholm. Between 1996 to 2001, she worked at the Forward Studies Unit of the European Commission.

Her research has been published in European Journal of International Relations, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of European Integration, Foreign Policy, Journal of International Relations and Development, and Asia-Europe Journal. She is editor of numerous volumes published in the Palgrave Macmillan series Interdisciplinary European Studies, and author of The Everyday Making of EU Foreign and Security Policy. Practices, Socialization and the Management of Dissent (Edward Elgar, 2022) and Unlikely Partners? China, the European Union and the Forging of a Strategic Partnership (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017).
