Catherine Ray is a Head of unit at the European Commission. She has over 20 years of experience in communication and political advice on EU affairs. She notably worked as Lead Spokesperson and Member of cabinet for the High Representative/Vice President for Foreign Affairs and Security policy Federica Mogherini, after having worked in the same positions for the Commissioner for Development, Andris Piebalgs and previously Commissioner for Research, Janez Potocnik. She started her career as a press officer for a political delegation at the European Parliament before joining the European Commission as Press officer for the Commissioner for Trade, Pascal Lamy. Beside the EU institutions, Catherine Ray worked as an advisor to the UNDP Administrator, Kemal Dervis and as senior consultant for corporations, NGOs, international organisations in Publicis Consultants (Paris).
She also taught Communication on EU affairs in l’ENA (French Ecole Nationale d’Administration) in 2012 and was a co-teacher for a course on Trade and Development at the College of Europe (2014).
Catherine Ray graduated from the College of Europe (Promotion Leonardo da Vinci) in European Political and Administrative Studies.
