Jean-Paul JACQUÉ

Professor Jean-Paul Jacqué is Honorary Professor of the Department of European Political and Governance Studies since May 2023. He taught at the College between 1978 and 2023.

Professor Emeritus at the University of Strasbourg and Honorary Director General at the Council of the European Union.

PhD in law. Director in the Legal Service of the Council of the European Union (1992-2008). Professor at the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Strasbourg (1978-1992). Visiting professor at the Universities of Barcelona, Bologna, Brussels, Cologne, Fribourg, Louvain, Lisbon, Madrid, Sofia. Director of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Européennes, Strasbourg (1974-1977). President of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the University of Strasbourg (1977-1981). President of the Robert Schuman University, Strasbourg (1983-1990). Secretary-General of the Institut International des Droits de l’Homme – Fondation René Cassin (1990-1992).

Author of books and articles on administration and administrative law, international law and European law.

Officier de la Légion d’honneur; Chevalier dans l’Ordre national du Mérite; Commandeur des Palmes académiques; Officier de l'ordre de la Couronne de chêne (Luxembourg); Medal for Scientific Excellence from the University of Bologna; Doctor Honoris Causa of Toyo University (Tokyo), Panteion University (Athens) and St. Clemens Ohrid University (Sofia).
