Navigating the Atlantic: new episode with Sławomir Dębski on Central Europe’s view of the transatlantic relationship
We are excited to share the latest episode of Navigating the Atlantic, an euradio podcast series produced in partnership with our Chair of Transatlantic Trade and Economy (in cooperation with Microsoft).
In this episode, journalist Lolla SAUTY-HOYER speaks with Sławomir DĘBSKI, Associate Professor at the College of Europe in Natolin, about the current state of transatlantic relations and the way this moment is perceived from Central and Eastern Europe.
The conversation focuses on Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, shifting threat perceptions across Europe, and reflects on the wider implications for European security and the transatlantic relationship.
At a time when uncertainty over NATO, support for Ukraine, and Washington’s strategic priorities has led many in Western Europe to fear a rupture, Professor Dębski offers a different perspective. From Warsaw and the eastern flank, the United States is seen not as abandoning Europe, but as asking it to assume a greater share of responsibility for its own peace and security. His challenge to us all: 'Stop asking what America can do for transatlantic security. Start asking what Europe can do.'
