Guus MAEBE

Guus MAEBE (BE) joined the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies as an Academic Assistant in August 2026.
He holds an MA in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe (2025-2026, Victoria Amelina promotion), after obtaining two prior Master’s degrees at Ghent University: an MSc in European Studies (2023-2025) and an MSc in Public Administration and Management (2019-2024). During the MSc in European Studies, he also studied at Sichuan University in Chengdu.
Before joining the College, Guus completed a traineeship at the European Commission Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA – Unit F1: Climate Change and Sustainable Energy) as well as a traineeship at Flanders Investment and Trade in Hong Kong.
Fields of interest: critical raw materials, EU external trade and energy policy, EU-China relations, geopolitics, and the green transition.
