Hugh Goldsmith is Senior Policy Advisor at the European Investment Bank, where he has worked for the past 20 years in a variety of technical expert and managerial roles. A Chartered UK and European Engineer (EurIng) and economist specialised in the water sector, Hugh has over 30 years’ experience advising, appraising and monitoring infrastructure projects across Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and Asia. He acted as a seconded expert on capacity building to the European Commission and as technical advisor to the IMF on public-private partnerships. With a long-standing research interest in infrastructure history and sustainability, Hugh has been a visiting lecturer at several European Universities and authored book chapters and journal articles on water and infrastructure topics.
