From 6 to 19 July 2014, the Natolin (Warsaw) campus of the College of Europe hosted the second edition of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA), an educational programme for policy analysts, advisers and experts from the six Eastern Partnership countries. The programme is founded by the College of Europe, Natolin (Warsaw) campus, in partnership with the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

            

   

The WEASA 2014 edition intended to throw light on various aspects of mobility perceived from the state, regional and global perspectives. Its participants were 45 policy analysts, advisers, civil servants, private sector/NGO professionals, journalists and experts from the Eastern Partnership region (i.e. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).

            

The WEASA 2014 faculty consisted of outstanding experts with practical and academic experience in the field of systemic transformation, European integration and transatlantic relations, inter alios:

  • Prof. Leszek BALCEROWICZ, Professor of Economics at the Warsaw School of Economics, former Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Poland;
  • Mr Daniel FATA, former U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Europe and NATO Policy;
  • Prof. Rey KOSLOWSKI, Director of the Center for Policy Research Program on Border Control and Homeland Security at Albany University;
  • Prof. Marek OKÓLSKI, Director of the Centre of Migration Research, University of Warsaw;
  • Mr Bruce STOKES, Director of Global Economic Attitudes at the Pew Research Center in Washington, DC.
