On Tuesday, 23 February 2021, the Natolin Digital and Media Nest hosted on campus a special lecture by Ms Anda BOLOGA, a graduate of the College of Europe in Natolin (Manuel Marín Promotion 2018/2019) currently working in Warsaw as a legal professional specialized in cybersecurity, data protection, and digital affairs.
"How is the EU’s normative power in data protection affecting its leverage in establishing a global framework for internet governance?"
Ms Anda BOLOGA talked about the connection between EU data protection and its power to regulate the global internet. She discussed the development of EU data protection law comparing it with the approaches of the other two main regulatory camps represented by the US and China. To conclude, Ms BOLOGA shared with the students how the EU model is translating into other domains of digital governance and tried to predict how this may evolve further in light of the ECJ "Schrems" judgments. The event was organized following all COVID-19 regulations and sanitary measures enacted by the local laws, as well as the recommendations of the World Health Organization. |
