Workshop with Dr Michael KOZAKOWSKI on Migration in Europe

On 27 April 2015, the Natolin (Warsaw) campus of the College of Europe welcomed Dr Michael KOZAKOWSKI from the European University Institute, who presented a workshop titled "Migration in Europe: Contemporary Issues, Historical Perspectives" organized by the EP Geremek Chair of European Civilization.

          

This workshop aimed to provide a historical perspective on debates about integration to the questioning of migrants’ freedom of movement and social rights, including the treatment of refugees, access to welfare and social security provisions, and citizenship. It focused on the period between the end of World War I and the present. 

        

Dr Michael KOZAKOWSKI is a historian of 20th Century Europe. He specializes in the histories of migration, colonialism, European integration and Euro-Mediterranean relations, and international political-economy. He has taught at the University of Chicago, the "Institut des Études Politiques – Paris" (Sciences Po), and the European University Institute. He is currently a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute.
