On Thursday, 19 October 2023, the College of Europe in Natolin had the honour to host a special meeting with Mr Marian TURSKI, who was the only member of his family to survive the deportation to Auschwitz-Birkenau and two death marches following the evacuation of the camp.
Mr TURSKI kindly agreed to share his testimony with our students as part of the preparations for Natolin's educational project encompassing a tailor-made two-day study visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, a former German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp.
The meeting with Mr TURSKI offered the Natolin students a unique opportunity to discuss totalitarianism and the Holocaust, as well as their implications for the future, with somebody with acute experience of one of the most harrowing periods in modern human history.
