From 2 to 12 July 2023, the College of Europe in Natolin, the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF), and the Polish-American Freedom Foundation (PAFF) shall organise the 11th edition of the Warsaw Euro-Atlantic Summer Academy (WEASA). This year's theme shall be:

"Security and resilience in a changing world"

WEASA is a summer programme addressed to experts – such as analysts, political advisors, think thank and NGO employees, civil servants, and journalists – coming from Eastern Partnership, Western Balkans countries, and Poland.

The 10th edition of WEASA (2022) addressed two broad themes in connection with Russia's war against Ukraine: 1) the information war which was taking place before, during, and after the physical war; and 2) the new geopolitical reality manifested as a result of the war. We invite you to consult our news items pertaining to the opening and closing (respectively) of WEASA 2022.

About WEASA 2023

Russia’s unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine has already provided many lessons for societies to draw from. First and foremost is the critical importance of security as a necessity for defending democratic values and ideals. For this reason, we have developed a program to touch on all the critical aspects of security – personal, societal, and global – during WEASA 2023 by focusing on the following topics:

  • The transatlantic partnership in a changing world order
  • Disinformation and an introduction to OSINT
  • European integration outlook for Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans
  • Media literacy: concepts and practical exercises
  • Effective social media practices / tips on how to be a positive influencer
  • Personal digital security: practical tools for being safe online
  • Hybrid threats in today’s world
  • Disinformation vs. freedom of speech
  • Advanced OSINT tools

The programme is designed to ensure a perfect combination of lectures, workshops and panel discussions providing both theoretical and practical background. The approach to the content was adjusted based on the suggestions of our alumni members.

For full details of the programme and conditions for participants, please consult the event notice on the WEASA website.
