Summer French courses
The Alliance Française de Bruxelles-Europe organises summer French courses for admitted students of the College of Europe.
Those chosen to take part in the European Political and Governance Studies "Access to French track" are given the opportunity to take a summer course as part of the Bruges introductory programme.
English and French courses are organised throughout semester one in order to help students adapt to the academic environment.
The focus is mainly on improving academic and professional language skills.
Students who are not native speakers and who do not possess internationally recognised language certificates at Council of Europe B2 level are advised on arrival to see if they should follow these courses.
Academic French and English writing workshops and tutorials are organised to help students with thesis writing and the development of professional writing and speaking skills.
All students can follow German, Italian, Dutch and Spanish courses.
In most cases, the College, or the cultural institute, provides a certificate indicating the Council of Europe level obtained.
The language service organises a number of workshops dealing with linguistic and professional skills:
- Academic French and English writing Academic French and English writing workshops and tutorials are organised to help students with thesis writing and the development of professional writing skills.
- Communication workshops Students have the opportunity to attend communication workshops where an active approach is taken towards professionalising presentation and public speaking skills. Students are filmed, and given direct linguistic and skills feedback on an individual basis.
- Negotiation skills The College allows students to practice and improve negotiation skills. The Language Service supports students in the linguistic side of this.
