Dr Emile BADARIN, Research Fellow at the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair, recently published an opinion piece entitled "World Cup 2022: How Arab fans are speaking truth to Israel on Palestine” in Middle East Eye - independently-funded London-based news website covering events in the Middle East and North Africa.
The piece reflects upon recent instances of fans boycotting interviews with Israeli media at the 2022 football World Cup in Qatar, and articulates the views of the author upon their significance. The article appears in English.
In addition, Dr BADARIN featured in the The New Arab Voice podcast (episode from 9 December, entitled “Qatar 2022 World Cup: It's Comin' Home and Free Palestine!”). On the podcast, Dr BADARIN elaborated his views on the Palestinian cause at the World Cup, and on the football fans who refused to speak to Israeli journalists.
