Following up on a high-level guest lecture organized by the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair on 28 March 2014, featuring Prof. Dr Andreas UMLAND (Kyiv Mohyla Academy), the ENP Chair organized a panel debate on "Ukraine One Year after EuroMaidan: Domestic Politics and External Involvement in Times of War".

This event took place in light of the multifaceted developments that have taken place in the last eight months and it acknowledged that Ukraine is not just witnessing a "crisis", but is exposed to a full blown territorial conflict. Against this backdrop, the event brought together prominent scholars to discuss EU foreign policy towards Ukraine, as well as Ukraine’s process of European integration prior to and during EuroMaidan and the current war in eastern Ukraine. The debate was complemented by a discussion of the issue of identity in Ukrainian-Russian borderlands, as well as the wider repercussions of recent and current events in Ukraine for the EU’s Eastern Partnership and the Eastern Neighbourhood as such.
