On 17 February 2017, H.E. Mr Harri TIIDO, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Poland, came to the Natolin campus of the College of Europe to deliver a lecture on "Security Challenges Facing the Baltic States".

The guest lecture was organized in the framework of the preparation for the second semester study trip week to the Baltic Region titled "The Baltic and European (In)Security Dilemmas", which foresaw visits to the Kaliningrad Oblast, Estonia, and Latvia, where Natolin students gained not only valuable access to first-hand knowledge and expertise in the field of (European) security studies, but also an insight into regional-cultural diversity.

In this guest lecture, H.E. Ambassador TIIDO presented students with a policy practitioner's perspective on the practical matters of Baltic states' security. He provided a broad outlook onto internal security cooperation dilemmas that the Baltic states have been facing for the last two decades, as well as external security challenges to the "wider Baltic area" – all against the backdrop of Russia's "European agenda" and incrementally assertive politics in the region.

About the speaker:
H.E. Mr Harri TIIDO is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to the Republic of Poland. He is the former Deputy Under-Secretary of Security Policy at the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and former Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to NATO.
