The Practice and Apply Lab Team at the College of Europe in Natolin organised a workshop How to Write an Op-Ed with Dr Jan BOGUSŁAWSKI, a PhD student at Sciences Po Paris, researching the evolution of the welfare state in Central and Eastern Europe.
This workshop helped students understand how to craft a high-quality, concise, and relevant opinion piece on current social issues. Key decisions regarding style, structure, and length were covered, as well as how to choose compelling topics, connect with media editors, and effectively pitch op-ed ideas. Students learned how to build a clear, persuasive argument within a limited word count, focusing on clarity and impact. By the end of the session, participants had a clear roadmap for publishing short articles in high-impact media outlets.
