Lecture on "The Growing Transatlantic Digital Divide Under Trump" by Mr Peter CHASE | Digital Transformation Nest

From 11:00 till 12:30
Winter Garden
Natolin (Warsaw) Campus

The Digital Transformation Nest of the College of Europe in Natolin was pleased to organise a lecture titled: "The Growing Transatlantic Digital Divide Under Trump" to be delivered by Mr Peter CHASE, a former U.S. diplomat, Vice President for Europe of the US Chamber of Commerce and currently a Visiting Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

President Trump's second term has significantly escalated tensions in the transatlantic economic relationship, notably due to his unilateral imposition of 15% tariffs on virtually all products imported from the European Union. However, merchandise trade constitutes only a small part of the transatlantic economy; far more significant are the digitally enabled communications and services that flow across the Atlantic. These, along with many other related topics, were discussed during the lecture-meeting with Mr CHASE.

About the speaker:

Mr Peter CHASE joined the German Marshall Fund's (GMF) Brussels office in September 2010 as a non-resident fellow and became a resident senior fellow in May 2016.

His work focuses on the transatlantic economy, with particular attention to trade and investment, digital and energy policies, and the EU's economic relations with third countries.

Mr CHASE served as Vice President for Europe at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce from 2010 to 2016. Prior to this, he was a U.S. diplomat, holding posts such as Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the European Union, Director of the State Department.
