Franco-German National Day

On Friday 22 January 2016, to celebrate the 53rd anniversary of the Elysée Treaty, the German and French students of the College of Europe in Natolin organized the Franco-German National Day dedicated to the French-German friendship.

The highlight of the day was a special conference on the EU's and Poland's common challenges given together by H.E. Mr Pierre BUHLER, Ambassador of France to Poland and H.E. Mr Rolf NIKEL, Ambassador of Germany to Poland. The two envoys have emphasised the need to continue the close bilateral cooperation, but also with Poland, particularly at a time that sees the EU facing an unprecedented amount of internal and external issues. They addressed notably the terrorist threat, the CSDP's stakes, the migration crisis and the future of the Eurozone, before answering various challenging questions from students of the audience.

Throughout the day in the Natolin Restaurant this particular European friendship was celebrated over some non-typical meals: an allemand-französisch breakfast, a French déjeuner and a Biergarten dinner. The celebration was concluded in Chopint, Natolin’s student bar, with a historic and cultural quiz on the French-German couple.
