On Monday, 18 November 2019, Natolin students had a unique opportunity to meet Mr Adam CWETSCH, European Commission, DG ENER, as part of the College of Europe’s "Meet the Professionals" initiative, in collaboration with the Natolin Energy & Climate Society and Energy Governance Nest. Mr CWETSCH has been a Policy Officer in the European Commission since January 2015, covering International Relations and Enlargement. Prior to that, he worked as a chief expert in oil and gas for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Poland. He has an academic background in European Law.
Topics covered at the meeting included the historical context of energy relations between the EU and Ukraine, the bilateral and multilateral framework of energy relations and Ukraine energy issues (such as security of supply, gas market and electricity market). Mr CWETSCH also discussed the security of supply issues in Moldova and the interplays between Moldova and Ukraine.
The event also provided the opportunity to learn more about life working in the European Commission, and students were able to ask many questions about the work of the EU in these fascinating areas.
