On Tuesday 3 November 2020, US election day, the Student Political Society, established during the current academic year 2020/2021 at the College of Europe in Natolin, organized a student conference entitled "2020 US Elections".

The first part of the conference was hosted and presented by Natolin students. Ms Lea FANKU and Ms Lisa PREUSCHOFF discussed the American electoral system, and Mr Pedro MENDES focused on the candidates’ different programmes and pledges.

In the second part of the conference entitled "Analysis of Trump’s mandate", the students had the pleasure of having three special guests: Mr Stefan TURKHEIMER, Deputy Political Director of Elizabeth Warren's presidential candidacy, and Mr Christopher GUESS, journalist and computer scientist, who joined the student conference via Zoom from New York. Both guests discussed and analysed the impact and role of media on the 2020 election cycle.

The third guest of the student conference was Professor Ayman MHANNA, lecturer of the course "Les nouveaux enjeux de la liberté de la presse" at the College of Europe in Natolin. Professor MHANNA analysed the implications of the elections outcome in the Middle East region.

At the end of the event, the students watched a documentary on the American elections, played a Kahoot game and followed the live coverage in the media.
