The seminar "Introduction to International Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts" took place for the eight time at the College of Europe, Natolin campus, from 2 to 4 April 2014. The seminar was organized with the support of the Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to the European Union.

The aim of this seminar was to familiarize participants with new and emerging challenges that the international community is confronted with in the domain of Humanitarian Protection and Assistance in times of armed conflicts. Accordingly, in the framework of the College’s cooperation with the ICRC, Professor Elżbieta MIKOS-SKUZA (Warsaw University) and other practitioners of International Law and EU affairs addressed key issues related to the implementation of IHL by the international community, including the European Union. Taking into consideration the growing need to deal with the humanitarian consequences of conflicts, this seminar was an excellent occasion to acquire in-depth knowledge on the subject and to talk with academics and practitioners from the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The seminar was open to national experts and students (postgraduates or in their final year of studies) in Law and Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy, European Studies, Journalism and other related fields as well as to students of the College of Europe. A certificate of participation was given to participants who followed the entire program. The seminar was conducted in English without translation.
