To mark the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, the European Civilization Chair organized a symposium on "Discovering William Shakespeare and His World" on 30 May 2016 at the Natolin (Warsaw) campus of the College of Europe.

Professor Anna CETERA-WŁODARCZYK of the University of Warsaw spoke on "Shakespeare's Hand in The Book of Sir Thomas More: On Authorship, Authority and Afterlife". She was followed by Dr Emilia OLECHNOWICZ of the Polish Academy of Sciences, whose subject was "Kingship and Power in Shakespeare's Histories". 

After the discussion, Mr Richard WASHINGTON read famous speeches from the History plays. Professor Richard BUTTERWICK-PAWLIKOWSKI introduced the speakers and chaired the discussion.
