We Natolinians for Ukrainians: update on activities and initiatives

The students of the College of Europe in Natolin assist as volunteers at some of the refugee centres in Warsaw.

Preparations are under way for events aiming to analyse the current situation in Ukraine under Russian invasion and possible future developments. Also, preparations for an auction of art works by the students of the College of Europe in Natolin have commenced.

Two staff members of the College of Europe in Natolin have been involved in drafting a report by the Transatlantic Future Leaders Forum for the Polish Minister of Education and Sciences on “Systemic recommendations for integration of children refugees from Ukraine” (currently available in Polish).

A Ukrainian language crash course will be launched on 26 April 2022 by the Languages and Intercultural Dialogue Office

The selection procedure for Ukrainian candidates for the College of Europe continues in spite of the war. Before the interviews, the Head of Communications, Marketing and Recruitment Office of the College of Europe in Natolin spoke over the phone, in Ukrainian, with all 26 pre-selected Ukrainian candidates for Bruges and Natolin, in order to determine their individual situation. All of them confirmed their willingness to participate in the recruitment process. While 23 declared their availability for an online interview, there were 3 candidates who could not connect safely from the war zone. For the latter, a special procedure was established, based on double-blind second marking of their applications by senior academic staff members from the relevant departments.

On 16 and 17 March 2022 the Ukrainian Selection Committee successfully took place online with the participation of a representative of the Ukrainian government. Results of the procedure will be communicated to the successful candidates in the upcoming days.
