Welcoming Spring with Mărțișor
An integral part of student life at Natolin is the exploration and celebration of diverse cultures and traditions. This time, the Student Affairs and Professional Development Office of the College of Europe in Natolin was delighted to host a Moldovan and Romanian cultural workshop titled "Introducing Mărțișor."
Mărțișor is a centuries-old tradition celebrated at the beginning of spring in March. It involves crafting a symbolic object made from two intertwined red and white strings with a hanging tassel.
During the workshop, students had the opportunity to create their own red-and-white charms and later tie them to trees. These charms symbolize health, good luck, and prosperity.
The workshop was followed by an exhibition and a wine tasting, generously provided by the Romanian Cultural Institute.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the Embassies of Moldova and Romania for joining our students and sharing this joyful tradition with the Natolin community.
