Introductory Seminar on International Humanitarian Law at Natolin

The European Interdisciplinary Studies Department at the College of Europe in Natolin organized an Introductory Seminar on International Humanitarian Law for students, researchers, and practitioners.

The aim of this seminar was to familiarize participants with new and emerging challenges that the international community is confronted with in the domain of Humanitarian Protection and Assistance in times of armed conflicts.

Professor Elżbieta MIKOS-SKUZA (University of Warsaw, College of Europe) and invited lecturers including Dr Toni PFANNER, Mr Stéphane KOLANOWSKI and Mr Paul BERMAN, as well as key contributions from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Poland office. Through lectures and panel discussions the seminar addressed highly-discussed issues related to the workings of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the links between the European Union and IHL.

The seminar was open to students of the College of Europe in Natolin, as well as (in limited number) to external students in their final years of studies of Law and Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy, European Studies, Journalism and other related fields, as well as researchers currently enrolled in respective postgraduate programmes.
