From 19:00 till 20:30
Aula Skłodowska-Curie
Natolin (Warsaw) Campus

The European Civilisation Chair at the College of Europe in Natolin, had the pleasure to invite Natolin students to participate in the first debate dedicated to the legacy of Cold War.

The debate - with the interventions of Professor Hans KUNDNANI, and Mr Michał BARANOWSKI of the German Marshall Fund - discussed to which extent Cold War concepts and analogies are useful to describe the current legacy of the Cold War. The debate also examined the past and current positions of the US and Russia on key "unsettled issues" of the end of the Cold War, including their involvements in the Balkans, the Black Sea and regions of the former Soviet Union.

The debate marked the first debate of the series "The End of the Cold War", which aims to present the events of the end of the Cold War from the point of view of its legacy for contemporary Europe and the world, explaining their historical context, further evolution and significance. The series will continue with the second Cold War Legacy Debate on 25 January 2023.

The debate was chaired by Professor Marek CICHOCKI, with opening remarks provided by Professor Georges MINK.
