Erasmus+ Traineeships

Erasmus+ traineeships provide opportunities for students and recent graduates to carry out traineeships in enterprises, research institutes, laboratories, organizations, or any other relevant workplace located in EU Member States and third countries associated with the Programme.

This also may include teaching assistantships for student teachers and research assistantships for students and doctoral candidates in any relevant research facility (see eligible countries: here).

A graduate may carry out mobility for traineeship within one year from graduation, provided that qualification for the Erasmus+ Programme takes place during the studies.

The traineeship should ensure the possibility of acquiring concrete competencies relevant to degree-related learning and personal development needs. In terms of workload, in principle, the participants should work full-time based on their receiving organization’s working time.

Types of receiving organizations in line with the ER+ guide:

  • public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training, youth, research, and innovation (for example, a public or private, a small, medium, or large enterprise (including social enterprises); a public body at local, regional or national level; embassies or consular offices of the sending EU Member State or third country associated to the Programme; a social partner or other representatives of working life, including chambers of commerce, craft/professional associations and trade unions; a research institute; a foundation; a school/institute/educational center (at any level, from pre-school to upper secondary education, and including vocational education and adult education);
  • a non-profit organisation, association, NGO;
  • a body providing career guidance, professional counseling, and information services;
  • a Higher Education Institution from an EU Member State or third country associated with the Programme awarded with an ECHE, or a HEI from a third country not associated with the Programme recognized by competent authorities that have signed inter-institutional agreements with their partners from an EU Member State or third country associated to the Programme, before the mobility takes place.

Traineeships may not be held in EU institutions and other EU bodies, including specialized agencies, organizations managing EU programs such as Erasmus+ National Agencies.

In particular, we invite all students and staff to join traineeship programmes which could develop your digital skills.

The traineeship lasts from 2 to 12 months of physical mobility, excluding travel time (although please note that the maximum co-funding will cover a period of 90 days). Traineeship should not affect the completion of the study programme or cannot extend your studies. Each Erasmus+ participant is obliged to obtain appropriate insurance (accident/ health insurance, including the coverage of medical expenses / civil liability) before mobility.

The Erasmus Intern Traineeship Portal, developed by the Erasmus Student Network, may help you find Erasmus+ traineeships opportunities from companies: https://erasmusintern.org

See our regulations for joining the mobility programme: ECHE.
