He studied History at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow where he graduated with honours in 2004. In the same time he also studied History at Collegium Invisibile with Prof. Leszek Zasztowt and a year as a student of Ukrainian Philology at his native Alma Mater. After four years of Ph.D. studies at the Jagiellonian University, he was awarded with doctorate in 2008. He then held Assistant and in 2010 Associate Professorship. In 2016 he was awarded the degree of habilitated doctor and in 2019 – the Extraordinary Professorship of History of Culture, Science and Education. Since 2021 he is also a Director of the Archives of Science of the Polish Academy of Science and Polish Academy of Science and Arts in Krakow.
He was on leave from JU in 2015-16 as a Visiting Professor at Daemen College, Amherst, NY (USA), with which he has long cooperated. He was also a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, New York, NY (Winter semester 2012-13) and at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY (Spring semester 2017-18). He is a recipient of joint scholarship of the Kosciuszko Foundation and the Piłsudski Institute of America (2019-23), the Kosciuszko Foundation Grantee (2012-13, 2017-18), and the Fulbright Scholar (2015-16).
He has edited the journal Rocznik Przemyski since 2011 (as an editor-in-chief), is a member of the editorial board of a few scholarly periodicals, including Krakowskie Pismo Kresowe, Pilar. Časopis za društvene i humanističke studije (Zagreb, Croatia) and З історії західноукраїнських земель (Lviv, Ukraine).
Professor Pudłocki’s research focuses on the history of Galicia from the socio-cultural point of view, as well as the history of women and intellectual history. He is the author of over one hundered fifty scholarly publications – monographs, edited volumes, and articles and chapters in refereed journals and collections. He is also a free lance journalist cooperating with the Przemyśl local press.
