Jacek SARYUSZ-WOLSKI (1996-1999)

Member of the European Parliament. Vice-President of the European People's Party and of the EPP Group in the European Parliament. Member of the Committee of Foreign Affairs, Constitutional Affairs and Economic and Monetary Affairs in the European Parliament. Chairman of EPP Group in the Parliamentary Assembly of Eastern Partnership EURONEST. Former Chairman of EP Committee on Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the European Parliament. Chairman, Foundation College of Europe; Former Minister for Europe (Poland); Former Vice-Rector of the College of Europe, Natolin (Warsaw) campus.

Dr SARYUSZ-WOLSKI has been the Chairman of the Foundation College of Europe and MEP since 2004. Prior to this, he has held several governmental positions including European Affairs Minister and Chief Adviser to the Prime Minister in the periods 1991-96 and 1999-2001. He was the negotiator of the EU – Poland Association and Accession Agreements. In his academic career he was the Vice-Rector at the College of Europe, Director of the Centre for European Studies at the University of Łódz and Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence. He studied at the University of Łódz and at the Centre Européen Universitaire, Universite de Nancy (France).

Dr SARYUSZ-WOLSKI obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Łódz, where he also held positions as Assistant and Associate Professor at the Institute of Economics, was professor of European integration at the Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, College of Europe (Natolin) and at the University of Łódź. He is also member of the board of Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) Brussels, Vice-President of the Board of Polish Institute for International Affairs, Member of the Board of Trustees of Friends of Europe (Brussels) and Member of Advisory Council of EPC (Brussels).
