Cooperation agreement signed between the United Nations Office in Brussels and the College of Europe (23/02)

On Thursday, 23 February 2023, the Memorandum of Understanding on Deepened Cooperation between the United Nations Office in Brussels and the College of Europe was signed by Director Camilla Brückner and Rector Federica Mogherini.

The cooperation between the institutions will be guided by the universal values expressed in the Charter of the United Nations and the Treaties of the European Union. Both parties will seek to contribute to advancing the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, by facilitating the exchange of professional and academic insights, promoting awareness and advancing knowledge of policy solutions to global challenges, and contributing to quality education.

Through the implementation of concrete initiatives, the United Nations Office in Brussels and the College of Europe aim at developing their cooperation around areas of common interest and mutual benefit within their respective mandates. These initiatives include the establishment of an annual award and internship open to College students, the organization of joint events, study visits, contribution to academic activities, sharing career opportunities, as well as offering executive education and professional training programmes, inter alia.

The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding and the meeting that followed took place at the UN Office in Brussels and was attended by different Heads and Directors of the UN Brussels Offices. The College delegation consisted of Rector Mogherini; Prof. Dr. Sieglinde Gstöhl (Director of Studies, IRD Department); Frederik Mesdag (Director, Academic Administration Office); Claire Lawrence (Co-Director, Executive Education, Training and Projects Office); Elena Turci (Alumni and Careers Officer); Carsten Gerards (Principal Coordinator, Rector's Office).
