From 24 February to 26 February 2017, a team of 12 students of the EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies Department of the College of Europe successfully participated in the 18th edition of the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) in London. LIMUN is the largest annual university-based MUN conference in Europe, gathering over 1,500 students from all horizons.
The College of Europe students represented the EU members Germany (1), Italy (1), Poland (2), Portugal (5) and Sweden (2), as well as the international non-governmental organisation Medair (1). They negotiated and drafted resolutions on topics such as the promotion of sustainable urbanisation, the development of a NATO Strategy in Cyberspace, the regulation of Internet Usage, Big Data and the Dark Web or the question of a joint development regime in the South China Sea.
The delegates’ participation was excellent, with 3 diplomacy awards for Ms Hana HUDAK and Mr César GIMENO (IOC) and Mr Aurimas BRAZYS (WCT), and an honourable mention for Mr Marvin Tarek GROβE (NATO). Together with the other members of the team (Ms Ann KEMMER, Ms Cindy DEGREEF, Ms Nina MASCHIO ESPOSITO, Ms Rucsandra GRIGOROAIA, Mr Sante Alessandro FIORELLINI, Ms Daniela BULARDA, Mr Bram DE BOTSELIER and Ms Clàudia PUIGDERRAJOLS VEHILS), the delegation of the College of Europe made an outstanding impression and showed profound knowledge of the issues on the agenda, which was translated into the nomination for the best small delegation award.
Congratulations to all of them!
