College of Europe Development Office event – 'TTIP: towards a transatlantic regulatory coalition?'

The College of Europe Development Office is organizing an event to debate the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the EU and the US in Brussels on 3 December 2014.

  • ‘Regulatory convergence: can the EU and the US deliver?’

  • ‘Investor-to-state dispute settlement (ISDS), by-passing courts or speeding up dispute settlements?'

Programme:

15:00 – 15:15              

Welcome and introduction of the event and main speaker by the Rector of the College of Europe, Prof. Dr Dr Jörg MONAR.

15:15 – 15:45              

Key-note speech – Presentation of the topic by Mr Denis REDONNET, Head of Strategy Unit and member of the TTIP negotiating team, DG Trade, European Commission.

15:45 – 17:00              

Panel debate:

  • Prof. Pierre DEFRAIGNE, Executive Director of the Madariaga – College of Europe Foundation, former Deputy Director-General of DG Trade, European Commission, Professor at the College of Europe;
  • Prof. Jacques PELKMANS, Senior Economic Research Fellow at Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) and Professor at the College of Europe;
  • Mr Denis REDONNET, Head of Strategy Unit and member of the TTIP negotiating team, DG Trade, European Commission;
  • Chaired by Mr Roderick ABBOTT, Senior Trade Adviser at the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE), former Deputy Director-General of DG Trade, European Commission and former Deputy Director-General at WTO.
