Sir Julian PRIESTLEY, former Secretary General of the European Parliament, and Mr Nereo PENALVER GARCIA from the Directorate General of External Relations of the EP (co-authors of the book ‘The Making of a European President’ to be published by Macmillan Palgrave in 2015) will give a lecture open to all students on the first Spitzenkandidaten election, the impact that it is having on the institutional balance, the role of the European Parliament and the political groups in promoting this novelty and the lessons to be drawn for the future.
At the beginning of the lecture, they will shortly present their book before its publication in summer 2015. Then they will assess the Spitzenkandidaten process before answering the questions of the audience.
Join us in Auditorium 1 in Vervesdijk for a lively debate of one of the latest developments in European politics with prominent figures in the field.
