For the Portuguese National Week, the Europe Outside the Box Debate Club and the Portuguese Society of the College of Europe are promoting a Conference on "Fighting Corruption & Public Policy: an International Perspective". The event will be held this Thursday, 21 January 2016, and will have as guest speaker Dr Ary FERREIRA DA CUNHA, author of "Fighting Corruption: from Theory to Practice". 

Dr Ary FERREIRA DA CUNHA is an assistant lecturer at the Portuguese Catholic University's Law School in Porto, researcher at the Centre for Legal and Economic Research, focusing is on policy, governance and constitutional issues. 
He has a LLB in (2010), and a MSc in Legal and Economic Studies (2012) from the University of Porto, with a dissertation on Anti-Corruption Public Policy. He was a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford (2012) and at the Utrecht School of Governance (2013). Dr FERREIRA DA CUNHA lectured on the topics of corruption, public finances, public law, legal research and argumentation, co-edited three books on tax law, and his research has been featured in seven books, eight scientific journals and a few other academic outlets. His academic work has been recognized with scholarships from the University of Porto, the Portuguese Naval Academy, the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Carolina Foundation.  He co-founded and presided over the University of Porto Debate Society and the Portuguese National Debate Council, was World University Debate Champion and Best Speaker in the English as Foreign Language category (2013), having been consulted by leaders of dozens of debate projects on how to successfully establish and manage debate societies.

This event is open to the public but registration is required before Thursday 21 January.
