As part of the BENELUX national week, the Belgian Society of the College of Europe has invited Baron Frans VAN DAELE, former Chief of Staff of the President of the Council Herman VAN ROMPUY, to offer his unique perspective on the current challenges faced at the European level.

H.E. Mr VAN DAELE is also the former EU ‘Sherpa’ to the G8 and the former Chief of Staff of the King of Belgium. He joined the Belgium diplomatic service in 1971 and throughout his extensive diplomatic career he has been the permanent representative of Belgium to the EU, the UN and NATO, as well as Ambassador to the US. He is a former Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and has held various other positions in the Belgian Ministry of Foreign affairs. H.E. Mr VAN DAELE holds a Master in Philosophy and Arts from the University of Leuven.

This guest lecture is open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
