STUDENT EVENT // Conference on the Future of Europe – Launch of a New Europe, or Just Another Disappointment?

From 20:00 till 20:00

The cross-campus Young European Federalists (JEF) student group invites you to an online discussion event about the Conference on the Future of Europe. Announced by Ursula von der Leyen as a grand debate about the EU's role and competences, the launch of the initiative has been dragging on due to the COVID pandemic and disagreements on who should preside the Conference.

The pandemic has given heightened urgency to discussions on the future of Europe. Can the Conference live up to the high expectations? What form will it take? Who will be able to give their input? How will the conclusions of the Conference be followed up on?

Our student event will be opened by a keynote speech from Federica MOGHERINI, Rector of the College of Europe.

The panel will feature:
- Brando BENIFEI MEP, President of the Spinelli Group;
- Danuta HÜBNER MEP, former Chair of the European Parliament Constitutional Affairs Committee;
- Gunther KRICHBAUM MP, Chair of the German Bundestag Committee on European Union Affairs;
- Prof. Kalypso NICOLAÏDIS, Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford.

The event is open for all College of Europe students, as well as for the wider public. All participants are asked to register for the event using the form below by midnight on 12 January at the latest. The event will take place via Zoom, and the connection details will be sent to the registered participants by email before the event.
