Closing Ceremony of the EU Funded Project "Capacity Building in International Relations, Georgia"

After twenty-seven months of work, supporting the development of the closer relationship between Georgia and the European Union, the project: “Capacity Building in International Relations, Georgia” ended on 5 February 2016. The project was funded by the European Union through its European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) and implemented by the College of Europe in cooperation with its partners: the Estonian School of Diplomacy and the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies.

The project was operated out of the Levan Mikeladze Diplomatic Training Centre, which is one of the project beneficiaries, and a key institution in the development of the internal training capacity of Georgia in these areas. The aim has been to endow the corps of diplomats and civil servants working in the areas of international relations and European integration with the professional attributes and capacities necessary for the effective implementation of these new agreements.

With more than 34 capacity-building activities covering 10 key topics for strengthening the knowledge, awareness and communication skills of over 500 participants, the Diplomatic Training Centre has positioned itself as one of the most important training institutions in Georgia.

Moreover, the Diplomatic Training Centre has benefited from the development of eight new training courses and associated trainers; two workshops on the training of trainers; and study visits to around 15 diplomatic academies and related institutions in nine countries. The Centre has now become more widely known and respected as a fast-developing diplomatic school.
